At the press conference with Chris Kelly. |
Back in February I was invited to the press conference organized by Chris Kelly, former Facebook Chief Privacy Officer and a Silicon
Valley attorney and philanthropist. His organization The Safer California Foundation partnered with California Against Slavery to launch the campaign to support C.A.S.E.
Act ballot initiative aimed at preventing human trafficking. Now that the law was passed in California I want to encourage every one of you to support similar initiatives in your region, because there's simply no excuse for us to let human trafficking happen in this day and age!
It just blows me away human trafficking is still going on...seriously!
ReplyDeleteOh, me too, Saimi. I was horrified to hear all the stories! It's very sad...
DeleteWe need more people like this guy in leadership positions around the world :0) Sometimes the blame is misplaced on innocent people who are trafficked, but it's the traffickers who always profit from the situation :0(
ReplyDeleteOh, you're absolutely right. Police officers used to arrest those poor girls, when they were actually the victims themselves...
DeleteI agree with Saimi. Can't believe this goes on... :(
ReplyDeleteThe most terrifying part is that it's happening right next to us, while we might not even know abt it...
DeleteJust went to an all day training on Human Trafficking a few weeks ago. It blew my mind and we had some amazing speakers from our community and one survivor who is starting her own foundation in Miami.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing!
