DIY Natural Anti-Wrinkle Eye Mask for Sensitive Eyes and Under Eye Circles - w/ Most Effective Anti-Aging Ingredients: Retinoid, Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C. Homemade Recipe.

Since I'm now yet another year older (again, thank you for ALL your amazing BD wishes, guys!) I do need to start addressing the wrinkles issue, especially around my eyes. To be honest, I had to start worrying about them some VERY long ago already, yet all my efforts to find a suitable product lead to nothing but frustration.
The thing is most of the time people recommend applying some sort of oil to treat and prevent wrinkles and while they do the job perfectly, they tend to irritate my sensitive eyes to the point where I'd start crying! And the worst part is oils aren't easy to wash off:-( That's the reason I gave up on my anti-wrinkle efforts... until a few weeks ago when I was looking at my cotton pads and thought: "wouldn't it be amazing to cut them out to fit my under eye area and just apply some mask on it? That way I'll be able to prevent the mask from getting into my eyes!" And so I started doing the research to find the most effective anti-aging ingredients that I'd use in the mask. You'd think it should be easy since the internet is filled with info on anti-aging and DIYs, yet it's hard to find some reliable source that would list ONLY the MOST effective anti-wrinkle ingredients. So it took me some time to finally find this page on WebMD site. What's so special about this particular one? Well I love how they refer to studies that prove the effectiveness of certain ingredients you can topically apply on your skin. Those ingredients turned out to be: Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (after some additional research I found that glycolic acid in particular was the most effective anti-aging AHA), retinoids and vitamin C (in the form of ascorbic acid). Doesn't sound like something we might have at home, right? Wrong! While I did have to buy L-ascorbic acid powder, it turned out I already had the other two - yogurt as retinoid and brown sugar as glycolic acid. Yep, those can actually treat our wrinkles! Here's the recipe I've been using

WHAT I USE:
  • 5 tsp Yogurt
  • 3 tsp  Brown Sugar
  • 1.5 tsp  Vit.C powder (as ascorbic acid) - it's important to have no flavors or colors added to the powder!
  • a few drops of Neroli Oil - one of the most effective anti-aging essential oils, plus it helps with unpleasant yogurt scent (yes, I think yogurt has unpleasant scent;-)

HOW I MAKE & USE IT:

I simply combine all the ingredients together and let the mixture sit to have sugar dissolve (I actually like blending everything together and that makes sugar dissolve much faster). Since I can't store the mask for too long in the fridge, I simply put the amount enough for one week into a container (keep it in the fridge), and then I freeze the rest. One week later I unfreeze one cube and it again lasts me another week - very convenient!:-)

I cut my cotton pads to fit the under eye area and store them together with that little container in the fridge.
When I need to use the mask I simply apply some on the cotton pads, and since they stick nicely to your skin, you can easily walk around with them without having to lay down (it will be hard to look down though, so I just usually sit in front of the computer:-)
And that's all it took to make my perfect anti-wrinkle eye treatment - Finally!;-)

Have a great the rest of the week guys!

  13. After running out of my old moisturiizer, I wanted to try something new. I did some research and decided to try the Lady Soma Renew Serum. I had issues with my pore size, blemishes and some fine wrinkles. After using the Lady Soma Serum for only one week, I noticed a SIGNIFICANT change. I have very sensitiv skin and I love that I did not have any kind of reaction. I have an overall glow to my face, no blemishes or breakouts and those fine wrinkles are seriously smoothing out!

  15. This DIY Undereye Wrinkle Mask sounds great...it's a must try. Have some questions...would it matter if you use Greek or regular yogurt, light or dark brown sugar? How long do you leave it on before washing it off?

    1. I'm wondering the same thing. The yogurt looks quite thick in the photo. I actually thought it was butter until I read the recipe. :)

    2. I use Greek yogurt (yes, it is quite thick;-) But any yogurt will work because all of them have retinoid, and both white and brown sugar have glycolic acid. I usually keep it on for about 10 minutes. I hope that helps;-)))
